Disabled American Veterans: American’s serviceman are hailed as heroes when serving however all too often following a physical or mental injury their contribution to our nation can be ignored or even forgotten entirely, which is why I strongly believe in supporting the DAV.
Angel Heart Farm
For seven years, from 2000 to 2007 I lived on a 30 acre farm in Franklin, TN with wife Andrea and our two young children. Andrea & I both have a passion for riding horses and we owned several. We were approached by Tracy Kujawa, to host Angel Heart Farm on our land. We regarded this as a great honor. Angel Heart Farm is a 501c3 organization that offers free equine assisted therapy for children facing chronic or life threatening illness from cancer to cystic fibrosis as they undergo medical treatments. Angel Heart is the only program of its kind in Middle Tennessee, Angel Heart is unique in that it involves the entire family, the children and their parents would not only care for the horses, but be lead around the farm as they sat in the saddle, or take the paddle boat out on our 2.5 acre lake and later picnic near Maye’s Creek. This was a bitter sweet, often heart wrenching experience as nearly all of the families lost their loved ones. Angel Heart still offers its services to families from all over the world who visit Nashville’s state of the art hospitals, notably St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
